This project is an exploration of juxtapositions. I created 55 10" x 10" paintings which can be sequenced in any way the viewer prefers. They can be grouped in two's, three's, four's, horizontally or vertically, in squares or rectangles. They can be spaced apart or abutted together in one piece.
In a way, our lives are modular, compartmentalized by our different roles and shifting priorities. Moreover, our inner barometer changes from moment to moment as we amble through states of mind and emotional currents. Set all this against the backdrop of modern life, and we have even more fragments of experience. I want to capture the patchwork of existence with a visual vocabulary that yields sequences which are inherently playful and mysterious.
